*ジャマイカ国内リーグのスタア選手ボブ・マーリーさんが英国大リーグにＦＡ移籍して２年、５作目にして早くも世界のボブ・マーリーになったブレーク盤です。大体が私、何でもかでもカリスマにしちゃうのは「カリスマ＝無条件追従＝ちょびひげおやじ」を想起しちゃってうげえなんですがどうにもこうにも人を引き付ける力を持った人はおるもんでこれ聴いちゃうとこりゃしょうがないなと。それほど聴いてて否応無しに巻き込まれてしまいます。ジャメイカを出て俺の力は世界に通用するかの気持ちが歌詞をどこの人でも理解出来るメッセージに変化させ、音楽自体も初期には外部白人ミュージシャンの力を借りていたものを見事に吸収、ロック的な大見得とファンクの弾力を得てここに自信のライブとなりました。その上でのボブさん自身の魅力。好きなように歌い好きなように踊る。もうこりゃジャンル、世代、時代を超えて誰の心にも訴えかける名盤だよなあ。これ以降ジョン・レノン氏と並ぶ平和の使者として不幸にして早逝されたこともあって数多くの人に支持されるのですが、逆にその支持が音楽から離れて行った感もありどうにも無常感が。こっち側に来るための音楽の変化もジャメイカ本国のレゲエの流れと乖離しちゃって鬼っ子のようになってレゲエとゆうジャンル自体の引き上げにも思ったよりならず、レゲエ界にその後ボブ・マーリーとゆう存在が重くカセのようになったり、あまりにも突出した存在、盤のために起こるこの不幸。不幸と言っては何だけどボブさん本人にとってもこれを超えるものが作れるのかとゆうのがこれ以降のテーマに。それくらい恐るべき盤だと思います。怖いくらいの魅力盤。お勧めしちゃうと人によっては聴いた方の人生観まで変えちゃいそうでどうしましょう。一つだけ確かなのはこれがレゲエそのものとゆうよりはもうボブ・マーリーの音楽だってことだな。 (マスター)2004.1.5 |
