*７０年代の真ん中頃ピストルズのライブを見て燃えに燃えた英国はマンチェスターの若き野郎どもが結成したのがこのバズコックス。そしてこれは突っ走った歴史のシングル列伝アルバムでございます。メジャー・デヴューしたは良いけれどヴォーカルのハワード・デヴォート君が脱退、マガジンを作ってしまいおったのでギターのピート・シェリー氏が歌を歌うことに。最初の頃こそもろパンク熱血路線でがなってますがすぐに資質通りのへにゃメロディ路線を爆進しております。バズコックスの魅力はもう偉大なるワン・パターン、ドラムはこうでなきゃいけないし、ベースもこうでなきゃいけないし、ギターもこうでなきゃいかん。その中で曲のタイトルとは裏腹のねじれきった青春悶々正直こんなんですちゅう心情を情けなく歌うありさまにまー情けないねえと言いながらもそうだよなあと頭ぶるんぶるん振るとゆう。そんなに強い人間などいるもんじゃありません。この盤には３枚のアルバムを発表した後、さすがにこんなにワンパでは世間様に申し訳無いんじゃないかととち狂ってジョイ・ディビジョンのプロデュースで有名なマーティン・ハネット氏に製作を依頼したＥＰよりの曲がボートラで入っております。元々おおよそ年代順に曲が入っておったのですが闇鍋状態でそれらが混入、ただ質感が明らかに違いますので一目瞭然で。何はともあれ何かを発見して一挙に吐き出した哀愁耽溺メロディの数々是非ともご賞味を。シングルＢ面において質が落ちる余裕などなく全編良質でありますから。アルバムを持ってる人もここにはここの世界があるので持っていると嬉しいですよう。ここにしかない必殺「エブリバデー・ハッピ・ナウアデイズ」も入ってますし。ここまで好きだともう文章、よれよれ。ははは。 (マスター)2003.6.25 |
