*好き過ぎて手も足も出ないシリーズ[(^o^)]。英国はイアン・デューリーおじさんのブロックヘッズを率いての１ｓｔアルバムです。パンク華やかなりし７７年にインディーズの走りスティッフ・レーベルの４枚目として登場、パブ・サーキットでその前より活躍してた人ですが何とパブロックの連中がこの人嫌い(^0^)、同じことして客を飽きさせることはしないぞちゅう信条の人なのでニューウエイブ以前に人間ニューウエイブです。私はスティッフのライブツアーを記録した”ライブ・スティッフ”での物凄い演奏にやられちゃってこの１ｓｔ、もうドキドキワクワクで入手したのだ。聴いて見るとあらまあけっこう地味。凄いなまり。わしでもわかるほどのロンドンなまりです。１曲目からして”ウエイク・アップ、マイク・ラブ”だからもう。最初にところどころわかる歌詞と歌の内容にＫＯされました。輸入盤買っちゃったんです。当時ミュージックマガジン誌で特集があって内容が詳しくわかってからさらにぞっこんになっちゃって。どっちかって言うと歌詞なんて二の次の人なんでこんなことはランディ・ニューマン以来でした。歌詞がわかって来る頃には引き締まった腰ファンクのサウンドにもすっかりメロメロになっちゃって現在に至るまで聴くたびに染み渡る愛聴盤となっております。イアンさん、この１ｓｔ発表時点で既に３５歳。４２年生まれで７歳の時に小児マヒにかかった後遺症で体に障害が残り子供のころは特殊学校に通っていたそう。少年時代はロックンロールが大好き、特に同じように足が不自由だったジーン・ビンセントが彼のアイドル、青年期に差し掛かる頃にはジャズにも夢中になりさらにソウルにも。最初の本格バンドは７０年結成のキルバーン＆ハイローズ。ライブでは凄い演奏をしてたらしいのですが出したレコード”ワッタバンチ”は勝手にレコード会社にいぢられて変なリミックスさせられたあげくに放り出されるは次にそれを再録して”ハンサム”ちゅうタイトルで出したドーンレーベルは潰れるはとことんついてない。で解散。しっかしんなことでめげないイアンさん、ビザンチウムとゆうバンドにいたチャズ・愛のコリーダ・ジャンケルとゆう朋友に出会って新バンドを画策、目指すはＡＷＢ。あれほどアメリカンにはせず英国魂炸裂ファンクバンドにしようと日々研鑽をしてたところに旧知のデイブ・ロビンソンがジェイク・リビエラとスティッフを立ち上げさあ、思い切り活躍の場が出来た。一挙にブレークしてこのアルバムもベストセラーになった次第。な訳でとことん英国してるこの盤、多分彼の地の人々ならわしらの３倍は面白いだろうけど一生かかって聴いてやるけんね。そしたら面白がり度でやつらを抜いてやってがははと笑ってやろうぞ。がはは。現在なら日本盤が出ております。多分対訳が付いてると思うので（付いてるよなあ）、これからの方にはちとお高いけどそちらをお勧め。クレバー・トレヴァー。歌詞の内容と最後に向かっての歌い方の変化を楽しんでみてください。 (マスター)04.01.16 |
