"かわいいプログレ・ポップ。"

なんとも恐ろしい邦題ですが。かねてから挑戦したかったエゲレスはカンタベリーの音楽。ついにキャラヴァンのこの名作を聴くことが出来ました。キャラバンちゅうと昔ミュージックライフのおもしろコーナーでみんなしてお尻を出してる写真がありまして、そのイメージがずっと。そうゆうバンド(←どーゆーバンドだ)だと思っておりました。今回聴いてみて、だうもすみません。素敵なバンドです。試聴が出来ないので言葉で説明したいのですがこれがまたしにくい。変拍子を交えたプログレで、さらっとしたボーカルと、ポップな曲と軽やかな感じと．．．うーん。テクニックは相当なもので、変拍子もやるぞーっって感じぢゃ無く見事に曲の中にすっぽりと。そっとした音楽なんで地味といやあ地味なんですが、けっこうカラフルでもドラマチックでもあり、こりゃあ普通のポップ・ファンでも知らなくて聴いたらはまってしまうかも。事実聴くたびに私はどんどん夢中に。プログレも奥が深いのう。こんなに楽しめるのならさらに奥に行ってしまいそうです。

ＬＰの解説にイエスやキンクリと型を並べるバンドだと書いてありましたが、うむ、私は充分納得してしまいました。

素晴らしいとの噂を聴いて幾年月。やっと聴くことができました。嬉しいのなんのって。英国カンタベリー・シーンの雄、75年の作品です。カンタベリーと言えばアナザープログレ本部でござる。この作品は後に「イッツ・マイ・パーティ」でブレークしたバーバラ・ガスキン、デイブ・スチュアートが参加しております。
噂にたがわぬ素晴らしさ。イエスともキンクリとも違う世界がここに。とにかく楚々として流麗でエレガントでスマートで心地良い事この上なし。ジャズっぽさとポップさと変拍子が調和していつまでも聴いていたくなります。キャラヴァン同様押し出しが弱いかもしれんのでプログレに迫力だけを求める人には辛いかもしれませぬが、お子ちゃまには通じぬこの世界をぜひ堪能してみてください。ただし13だけは別、ものすごい迫力です。びっくり。
