*ロック界には七不思議言いますか何でこんな素晴らしいものが出てないのだーとシャウトしたくなるものがあります。これは７８年にプロモＬＰで出たエルビス・コステロの唯一の全ライブ盤。９３年に日本でのみ単独ＣＤ化、他の国ではボックスの一枚としてＣＤとなりました。現在はこれだけボーナス再発されているのにこれだけ廃盤。アマゾンさんで見たら一枚だけ目玉まん丸の値段で中古がありました。権利関係で出せないんだろうか。時は１９７８年、場所はストーンズ「ラブ・ユー・ライブ」でお馴染みカナダはトロントのエル・モカンボ・クラブ、２ｎｄの「ジス・イヤーズ・モデル」発表直前、アトラクションズと組んで正にこれからぶっ飛ばそうとしてた時です。私は原宿で出来立てのレコード店のセールで偶然７８年に発見、もう既にコステロさんの１ｓｔでやられてたのと件のエルモカンボってゆうことで買っちゃったよ。そしたらまーびっくり。１ｓｔと全然違う音が。檻の中の３匹のライオンが吼えている最中に肉を奪うかのごとき壮絶な演奏が。サタデイ・ナイト・ライブで予定と全然違う曲やって全米の放送局から締め出されたコステロちゃんが丸々一枚、噛み付いて引きちぎって内股です。ドラムはばしばし、ベースはぶるんぶるん、オルガンはひゃあひゃあ、ギターはぐしゃんぐしゃん。今やエルトン・ジョン豪華邸宅で３度目の結婚を行ってしまう親父さんになってしまいましたがこんな時もあったのだよ。私はコステロさんと言えばこれを聴いてしまったのでもう刷り込み状態で５枚目以降はもう余生にしか思えなくて辛い思いをしています。ナイーブさんがピアノ弾いてる３ｒｄのボーナスＬＩＶＥからもう変わってるもんな。最後のバンプ・イット・アップのみルーモアのマーティン・ベルモントが参加のようで。震える夢の合体。ベストテイクは「ウォッチング・ザ・ディテクティヴズ」。このフィードバック・ギタア！。この時コステロは確実にパンク、確実にロックンローラーでした。私のレコードももう擦り切れそう。何とかならんかリマスター・再発。お願い。 (マスター)2003.12.17 |
