*英国パンク界の誇る暴れん坊ちんちｘず1979年3月ロンドン・ハマースミス・オデオンでの実況録音盤だー。録音極上でござる。2ndアルバム「ラブ・バイツ」の後で選曲は1,2枚目から。一番モチベーションが上がっておったころか。このバンドは私にとってパンクＮＷで最上位に位置するバンドなんですが実に何とも説明しにくい良さを持ってまして。とんでも名前ですし試聴なさるとおわかりのように実にへにゃへにゃなヴォーカルでして演奏も特にうまいちゅう訳でない。しかしまあこの独特のメロディと空気にとりつかれるともう大変、抜け出せません。ご多分に漏れずセックス・ピストルズのギグを見て一念発起発生のバンドなのですがむしろラモーンズの子供、ポップとスピードが身上です。歌詞も社会を挑発ものでなくあくまでも個人的もんもん悩みを１０ｃｃなみに屈折して。アレンジはおかずが必ずどこどこどこどんなドラム、ぶんぶんベース、ぐわーパルス・ギター一発。「ユーロヴィジョン・コンテスト、エントリー曲やります」(多分)などと受けないジョークを言いつつたんたんと送る１８曲、ニルヴァーナさんのヴォーカルさんも好きだったそうですし、今のバンドのそこかしこに亡霊のようにとりついている凄いちゅうより愛すべきバンドをいかがですか。あ、そうだ。初期パンクの中では過去のブルース、R&Bから完全に隔絶した連中がついに出てきたかってゆう点が物凄く凄いことかもしれません。 (マスター)2003.6.25 |
