*”オー・キャロル””カレンダー・ガール”などで６０’ｓ前半ヒット連発もビートルズ登場でかすんで行っちゃったセダカさん、７５年のカムバック作。例のごとくのオールディーズかと思えばさにあらず見事なり７０’ｓポップ、ＳＳＷとして堂々たる作品です。７０’ｓ至玉の名曲ラフター・イン・ザ・レイン入り。もう当時からその曲大好きで以来２３年か、買おう買おうと思い続けて来たんですけどいかんせんこのおぢさんキャラ、つい忘れちゃってやっと先日買いました。いやーすみません、ためにためていた巨大期待を裏切らない素晴らしい作品だー。ポップス聴くとうげぇって即座に気分が悪くなる人以外全ての人に自信を持ってお勧め。買おう買おうと思ってた理由の一つがその演奏陣。何と英国ひねくれポップ大王１０ＣＣが８曲でバックをつとめております。まるごと彼らがバックアップした他者の作品なんて珍しいんじゃないか。例によってどっか朴訥ながらトンデル演奏でセダカさんの見事な曲にワサビ利かせまくり。その１０ＣＣがバックをしてる”ラブ・ウイル・キーパス・トゥゲザー”はご存知キャプテン＆テニールがこの直後カバーして大ヒット飛ばしました。ビーチボーイズ大好き１０ＣＣとキャプテン＆テニールと。さらに”ソリティア”はカーペンターズがカバーしたと。その他の演奏陣はラス・カンケル、リー・スカラー、ミルト・ホ−ランドらＬＡ勢。あ、ランディ・ニューマンの空気だ。キザなジャケ写真撮らされて困ってる風情のセダカさんですが中身はメンツは想像力膨らませるは粒揃いの曲ばかりだわ、今まで２３年ためた分これから２３年以上じっくり楽しんじゃおうと思っております。いや買って良かった。 (マスター)2004.1.13 |
