*トト、ジャアニイなどと並んで８０’ｓハード・ポップ・ロックの大関格でありますREOスピードワゴンの７８年作品です。７０代後半に地味だった存在だったバンドが長い巡業で少しづつお客さんをつかんでついにブレークとゆうまるで演歌の如き快挙のバンドが続出いたしました。REOさんもその一つですが、ヴォーカルの名前がクローニンさんちゅうのが洒落にならない。音はとゆうと苦労の跡など微塵も感じさせないあっけらんのこれぞアメリカンなのだ。このアルバムでブレークした訳ですが実は大成功とゆう感じではなくて中ブレークちゅうとこかな。そりゃそうだ。特にかっこいい人がいるわけでもなく、ギター・ヒーローがいるわけでもなくひたすらライブの良さと曲の良さでアピールしていかなきゃならんのだから。ただ時が味方したと言いますかこの時期肩の凝らないポップなハードロックが人気を集めて注目されておったのがラッキー、やっぱ信じて続けると良いことあるのね。このアルバムとにかく良い曲ばかりです。クローニン節炸裂、目がキラキラソング連発、変態アルバムばかり聴いてるあたいはこの屈託の無さに心が洗われるようじゃ。権威的なものは微塵もありませんので聴いてて人にかっこいいと思われることはまあけっしてありませぬが素直にこの音楽を楽しめればこれに越したことはないよ。彼らのようなバンドが馬鹿にされることは無いのです。えらい。 (マスター)2003.09.16 |
