*８０’ｓ中盤私は何を聴いていたかとゆうと、そうです、これです。それもよう飽きんのうちゆうくらい。時代はレコーディングテクノロジーのデジタル化による劇的進歩の真っ只中、それをとことん駆使した音を作ったのがまさかこの英国ラフトレードで手作り白ソウルをやってたこの人達だったとは腰抜かすほどその変貌に驚きもしのとんでもない質の高さに驚きもしの。でその英国からアメリカに渡ったスクリッティの正体グリ−ンさんがアメリカでデビッド・ギャムソンとフレッド・マーとゆう御仁と組んでさらにプロデュースを白ソウルをやらせたらこの人の下で仰ぐ人はおっても右に出る人はおらんうーたんとゆうアリフ・マーディンさんに頼んで出ましたのがこのとんでも盤。アリフさん凄いよこれは８０’ｓのAWBだわさ。まったくもってこの時期にしか出来なかった音。完成されたアナログシンセと躍進するデジタルシンセそして必殺のサンプラー、フェアライト、人力で出来んミックスを可能にしたコンピュ・ミックスを駆使して一度機にいっぺんに音を出すのではなくぽつんぽつんと様々な音色の音を次々に配置、ソリッドながら彩りもあざやかなポップ印象派でござります。それに押しの弱いさっぱりとしたグリ−ンさんのマークボランボイスがぴたりとはまってさらに残響音、そうですリリーホワイトさんが火を付けてボブクリさんが追求いたしたリバーブの世界が展開です、別の残響成分だけを抽出して別の音にくっつけたりのそれはもうありとあらゆることをしなすったのにこのまとまりは全員一丸何かが取り付いたとしか思えません。私も取り付かれて何とかまねして何とかできんかと作ってみたもののそんなん出来るわきゃーない。苦闘の想い出も残るあれ今聴いても全然古くないよの大名盤。オーケストラヒットが古く感じないなんて。凄いよなプロ。 (マスター)2003.9.30 |
